Works and projects
The Works / Projects module tracks the company’s projects and works: work orders, tasks, resource allocation, budgets and progress. It is an extended-tier module (not part of a new company’s minimal core).
Core concepts
Section titled “Core concepts”- Project: a work or execution contract, with a budget and deadlines.
- Work order / task: the unit of execution within the project.
- A dimension on documents: in the current version, the project is attached to inventory
documents (stock movements carry a
ProjectID), so you can tag material consumption to a project.
What it is for (current version)
Section titled “What it is for (current version)”- Group and track stock movements by project (which materials went in/out on a work).
- Keep a record of projects and their associated work orders.
Known functional gap (new platform)
Section titled “Known functional gap (new platform)”Projects are not yet GL cost centers: invoices do not carry the project dimension, and there is no labour/time allocation to a project (the Personnel module is employee records only, no attendance/payroll), so a real per-project P&L (budget vs actual) is not possible. Project costing (a cost dimension across invoices + inventory + labour) is a scope decision for the new platform - see the rewrite gap register (B12, tied to B11/HR).
Links with other modules
Section titled “Links with other modules”- Material consumption comes from Inventory (with a
ProjectIDon the document). - Customer invoicing goes through Sales; the result flows into accounting as everywhere (but, for now, with no per-project breakdown).
Extended-tier module; detailed flow documentation follows once the new platform is prioritized.
